So, I read a lot of fanfic (hey, some people paint). This particular story is gen, which I usually don’t bother with ‘cause what’s the point of gen, right? Anyways, some context, Supernatural episode 4.18, The Monster at the End of This Book is when fandom became canon. We learn that the entire show was written in a cult book series by Carver Edlund (real identity: The Prophet Chuck) and had its own online fandom complete with Sam!girls and Dean!girls and wincest. Let’s watch Sam and Dean discover slash fic about themselves! Yeah, so, it was one of those episodes that you cringe and laugh and feel made fun of and feel loved all at the same time. Later that night, as I was trolling lj for some episode reactions ‘cause I knew they’d be…interesting, I saw longsufferingly had posted a quick (459 words) fic that builds on their discovery. It’s sparse, witty dialogue that really hit the spot that night.
